SIOUX FALLS, SD – The University of Mary women's basketball team's (14-16, 7-12 Northern Sun) eventful season came to an end in the quarterfinals of the NSIC tournament, losing 87-60 to the University of Minnesota Duluth (22-4, 19-2 NSIC).
In her final game for the University of Mary,
Macy Williams scored 20 points on 3-of-5 shooting from three. Williams is second in all-time assists at UMary with 464.
Megan Voit set a school record for most threes hit in a season in the NCAA era with 85. Voit led the NSIC in three-pointers made, shooting 37.95% from behind the arc.
The first quarter was competitive as UMary trailed UMD 21-19. The second quarter saw the Bulldogs take control as they outscored the Marauders 24-11.
UMary's attempt at a comeback was thwarted by UMD in the third quarter, with the Bulldogs taking a 71-48 lead going into the final quarter. UMD closed out the Marauders in the fourth quarter and took the 87-60 victory.
Lexie Schneider posted a double-double, scoring 15 points while bringing down 10 boards.
Ryleigh Wacha put up 10 points and grabbed five reounds.
The Marauders were outrebounded by the Bulldogs 41-35. UMary committed 13 turnovers, while UMD had 11.
The Marauders shot 31.7% from the field, shooting 27.8% from three while going 15-of-21 from the charity stripe. The Bulldogs shot 54% from the field, shooting 44.4% from behind the arc while going 11-of-15 from the free-throw line.
