Huber, Cushing tally twice as Marauders skate past Tetons 5-0 in annual Hockey Night in Dickinson meeting

DICKINSON, ND – Two-time defending national champion University of Mary brought its show on the road to Western North Dakota and earned a dominant victory over Williston State College. Scoring in all three periods while keeping the opposition off the scoreboard, the Marauders downed the Tetons 5-0 in the first meeting this season between the two ACHA M2 instate programs.

Playing their annual game in Dickinson, home of both past Marauders and current forward Jaren Hugelen, the Marauders scored all the goals they would need in the opening period.

Scoreless through the first half of the period, Andrew Huber found the net for his third goal of the season at 9:39, using helpers from Tanner Eskro and Riley Scanlon.

Tucker Kruse doubled the Marauders lead with a goal at 16:39 off assists by Jack Dapron and Teddy Lillico.

A pair of power play goals 64 seconds apart late in the second period sealed the Marauders 16th win of the season. Tetons took a pair of penalties with less than four minutes remaining until the second intermission and UMary took advantage. Seth Cushing converted with a 5-on-3 advantage at 17:07 off assist from Isaiah Thomas and Eskro. Now skating with a one man advantage, Huber found the net for the second time at 18:11 with Garrett Freeman and Eskro providing the assists.

Cushing matched Huber in goals at 9:07 of the third. Thomas had his second assist of the night on the goal and Derek Dropik had his first.

Kyle Hayden's amazing season continued in net for the Marauders. The reigning ACHA M2 Player of the Year stopped all 17 shots he faced to post his eighth shutout of the season. In 11 starts Hayden has allowed just four goals.

Riley Christison was also strong in net with 33 saves for the Tetons.

The Marauders, who have won all but one of their 17 games this season, play three games at home next weekend. St. Thomas comes to town for games on Friday and Saturday, Nov. 11-12, before Midland University wraps up the weekend on Sunday, November 13.
