BISMARCK, ND – University of Mary head wrestling coach
Adam Aho and assistant coach Carson Henry are excited to announce the commitment of three state champions to attend the University of Mary and compete for the Marauders beginning in the fall of 2023.
Bismarck, ND, native Kaden DeCoteau will remain in his hometown and compete for the Marauders. DeCoteau hails from Century High School, where he is coached by UMary wrestling alumni and NSCA Strength & Conditioning All-American Nate Humann. DeCoteau has thrived as a Patriot and is a five-time State medalist, placing 8th in eighth grade (30-10), 3rd as a freshman (46-13) and 4th as a sophomore (17-5) before winning a state championship as a junior (56-3). DeCoteau is projected to wrestle at 141/149 lbs for the Marauders. When not wrestling, Kaden enjoys swimming in the bay of the Missouri River with his friends.
Three-time Montana champion Owen Lonski from Sidney, MT, projects to wrestle at 141 lbs when he steps on the UMary campus in 2023. With Guy Melby in his coaches' corner, Lonski won his back-to-back-to-back Montana state titles for Sidney High School as a freshman (53-5), sophomore (43-0) and junior (52-5). Owen will fit in well with the outdoorsmen on the Marauders team as he enjoys hunting and fishing.
Reigning three-time Wyoming state champion Lane Ewing will be a great addition to the Marauders as a projected 157/165-pounder. The Douglas High School standout won his state titles under Bob Bath's watch as a freshman (34-6), sophomore (33-6) and junior (30-0). Lane will love spending time with Coach Michael Silbernagel, Coach Danielle Radosa, and the UMary Strength staff as he enjoys lifting weights.
"While these guys all bring impressive resumes to our program athletically, each of them strives for greatness in the classroom and in the community, which fits in well with our Greatness Through Virtue University of Mary Athletics strategic plan," said Aho. "I feel strongly that these three will complement the culture of our program and elevate the competition in the room. As a highly competitive program, we are always looking to make additions to our team that will help propel us forward. We feel these three will contribute to our program's continued success."
