Big efforts for DeLegge, Murillo keep Marauders close against Wolves

ABERDEEN, SD - Victoria Murillo and Breena DeLegge both captured a pair of wins for the University of Mary in the Marauders dual at Northern State University but it wasn't enough to offset the effort of the home team in a 144-118 loss to the Wolves.

The Marauders picked up wins in seven of the 15 events – including both relays – with the Wolves capturing eight events.

UMary opened the day with a win in the 200 yard medley. Teresa Cavanaugh, Rylie Webb, Jordn Wolsky and DeLegge combined for a time of 1:53.83 to take first.

In the penultimate event of the day, Murillo, DeLegge, Wolsky and Michaela Desmond claimed the win in the 400 free relay by 4/100th of a second (3:40.16 to 3:40.20).

Murillo started her day with a win in the 200 yard free, winning the event in a time of 1:55.46. She later edged teammate Korie Riely in the 500 free. Murillo was clocked in 5:16.58 for the victory.

DeLegge claimed back to back events. The senior first won the 50 yard free in 25.14 seconds. She then followed with a 100 yard free win in 56.06 seconds.

In addition to a relay win, Desmond claimed an individual swim win in the 50 yard backstroke with a clocking of 29.82, just .07 seconds ahead of the runner up.

The Marauders return home to host MSU Moorhead on Saturday, November 5. The meet gets underway at 1 pm at the BSC Aquatic and Fitness Center.
