BISMARCK, ND – Back in action for the first time in three weeks, the University of Mary swimming team visits Northern State University in a dual on Saturday, Oct. 29. The opening race is slated for 5 pm at the Aberdeen YMCA on Senior Day for the host Wolves.
The Marauders are 2-0 on the season after a pair of home-and-home meets against the University of Jamestown. UMary won both by nearly identical scores, 169-110 at home on October 1 and 162-121 at Jamestown on October 8.
Victoria Murillo,
Breena DeLegge and
Rylie Webb are all off to strong starts. A 7-time Northern Sun champion, Murrillo is undefeated in five individual swims this season. Webb, an All-NSIC performer, has four individual wins. DeLegge, an NSIC champion, also owns wins in all four of her races this season. The trio has also had several relay wins.
Murillo ranks in the NSIC top 10 in four events:
- 4th in the 200 yard freestyle (1:56.57)
- 4th in the 1,000 yard freestyle (10:49.52)
- 5th in the 500 yard freestyle (5:15.95)
- 10th in the 50 yard freestyle (24.80)
Also in the NSIC, DeLegge ranks 2nd in the 50 yard butterfly (27.17) and Jordn Wolsky ranks 6
th in the 50 yard butterfly (27.65)
Wolsky and
Breanna Lund also have had strong starts with wins in each meet this season. Additionally Teresa Cavanaugh has an event win.
The Northern State meet will be the Marauders most difficult task of the season as the Wolves have had six meets already this season. They are 6-6 overall and 5-5 in competition with NSIC schools.
