MINOT, ND – Jaren Hugelen scored the lone goal of the game for the visiting University of Mary in a rugged 4-1 loss at Minot State University, the second of two games this week between the Marauders and the Beavers.
 
The Marauders are ranked first in American Collegiate Hockey Association Division 2. The Beavers are ranked fourth in ACHA D1.
 
A scoreless affair after the first period, the Beavers came out flying to start the second stanza. Minot State scored just 30 seconds into the middle period on a goal by Connor Barley. The Beavers added two more goals in the period and entered the second intermission with a 3-0 advantage.
 
Hugelen cut into the Marauders deficit when he found the net midway through the final period, scoring off assists from Marshall Tschida and Kyler Moore to make the score 3-1. UMary was unable to find the net again.
 
Despite posting 31 saves in the game, Kyle Hayden suffered his first loss in regulation this season. He had 14 wins, six ties and an overtime loss heading into tonight's contest.
 
Minot State held a 35-29 edge in shots with Beavers goalkeeper Chad Duran stopping 28 shots.
 
The Marauders are 29-3-6-1 (W-L-T-OTL) this season overall. Next up for UMary is an away-and-home weekend series against the University of Jamestown M2 squad on March 19-20. Friday's game is set for Jamestown, ND, before the two teams compete the series in Mandan, ND, on Saturday.
