MANDAN, ND – In game two of a home and home series between two of the top teams in their respective divisions nationally, the University of Mary dropped a 4-1 decision to Minot State University.
The defending American Collegiate Hockey Association Men's Division 2 national champions, UMary is ranked #1 in the nation with a record of 18-4-1-2. Minot State is ranked #2 in ACHA Division 1.
For the second straight night, neither team could find the net in the opening period as UMary netminder
Conan Hayton and MSU goalkeeper Jake Anthony kept both offenses in check.
And just like Friday, the Beavers scored the opening goal in the second period. After Reid Arnold found the net at the 10:18 mark, Wayde Johannesson scored a power play goal late in the stanza at 17:27 to send Minot State into the final intermission with a 2-0 lead.
The Beavers tallied twice more before the Marauders struck for their lone goal of the night. Set up by

Tanner Eskro scored his sixth goal of the season with 3:01 remaining in the game.
Hayton finished the night with 26 saves for the Marauders. Anthony had 23 for the Beavers.
Minot State held a 30-24 edge in shots for the game. The Beavers scored once on four power play attempts while the Marauders came up empty in two opportunities with a man advantage.
The 3
rd annual Teddy Bear Toss game is up next for UMary. After three straight games against ACHA M1 foes, the Marauders host fellow ACHA M2 foe Williston State College on Wednesday, Dec. 8. Game times is 7 pm at the Starion Sports Complex Schwan Cadillac Rink.
Fans are encouraged to bring a new stuffed animal to throw on the ice when the Marauders score their first goal. In conjunction with the Community Action Program's Backpack for Kids effort, all stuffed animals will be donated to a local child with a goal of bringing extra cheer during this holiday season.
