Home return for Marauders dampened by loss to Beavers

BISMARCK, ND – Playing at home for just the third time this season, the University of Mary men's basketball team struggled to find an offensive groove in a 68-40 loss to visiting Bemidji State University. While the Marauders defense allowed their lowest point total of the year, UMary's offense point total was also season low.

Jacob Jackson paced the Marauders with 12 points. Providing a spark off the bench as he has done all season, Jackson was 4-of-6 from the field and hit a pair of treys.

Kam Warrens added a pair of treys on his way to eight points. He also had a team-high six rebounds. Kai Huntsberry added six points and four rebounds.

The Marauders missed their first seven shots of the game on their way to a 16-2 deficit that UMary was unable to overcome.

Derek Thompson paced Bemidji State with 14 points and 12 rebounds. Mohamed Kone added 12 points and four assists.

UMary (3-8 overall/2-4 NSIC) hit just 23.2% of its shots in the game. BSU (5-5, 2-4) connected at a rate of 50.9%, despite making just 4-of-15 behind the arc.

The Marauders close out the 2021 portion of their schedule when UMary hosts the University of Minnesota Crookston on Saturday, Dec. 18. Game time is 3:30 pm at the McDowell Activity Center.
