UMary women's basketball hosts MSUM on Thursday, then travels to NSU on Saturday

BISMARCK, ND - The University of Mary women's basketball team (5-4, 0-1 Northern Sun) looks to remain unbeaten at home as they host Minnesota State University Moorhead (1-4, 0-1 NSIC) on Thursday, December 2, at 7:30 pm. The Marauders then travel to Aberdeen, SD, to take on Northern State University (4-2, 1-0 NSIC) on Saturday, December 4, at 6 pm.

Tickets
Fans can purchase tickets online at www.UMaryTickets.com or at the gate. Adult tickets are $10 while senior citizen and youth tickets (13-18 years old) are $5. UMary students and faculty with their MCard and youth 12 and younger are admitted free.

Last Time Out
The Marauders won their game last on Saturday as they would defeat Presentation College 87-53.

Megan Zander led the team in scoring with 22 points while grabbing three rebounds. Lexie Schneider had 15 points and seven rebounds.

UMary would get some big contributions from its bench. Ellie Hasz scored a career-high nine points while contributing seven rebounds. Addison Rozell had nine points on 4-of-8 shooting.

About The Opposition
Minnesota State University Moorhead has opened the season 1-4 overall while going 0-1 in the Northern Sun. Junior center Peyton Boom leads the Dragons in scoring and rebounding as she averages 14.8 ppg and seven rpg. Leading MSUM in assists is junior guard Natalie Steichen with a total of 20. Freshmen guard Natalie Lens is second on the team in scoring with 12.8 ppg.

Northern State University is 4-2 overall and 1-0 in the NSIC. The Wolves have five student-athletes who average double digits in scoring. Senior forward Lexi Roe leads the team in scoring with 12.8 ppg. Leading the Wolves in rebounding is junior forward Laurie Rogers, who averages 7.2 rpg. Sophomore guard Rianna Fillipi leads NSU in assists with a total of 30.

Numbers To Know
Megan Zander leads the team in scoring with 13.3 ppg while averaging 5.8 rpg. She's shooting .457 from three on 16-of-35 shooting.

Macy Williams leads the Marauders in assists with 27 and is averaging 9.6 ppg.

Lexie Schneider leads UMary in field goal percentage (.589) and rebounding with 8.8 rpg. Schneider is second on the team in scoring with 10.1 ppg.

Megan Voit is the team leader in three-pointers made with a total of 25. She is shooting .381 from behind the arc.

Addison Rozell is averaging 8.2 ppg and 5.2 rpg on .521% shooting.

Coaches
Head coach Rick Neumann is fourth all-time in coaching wins at UMary with 138. In his ninth season, he has a record of 138-121. Hall of Fame coach Roger Haug is the Marauders all-time leader in wins (234), followed by Fred Fridley (170), Cal Collins (150) and Neumann (138).

UMary brought in two assistant coaches Brooke LeMar and Chloe Wanink for the 2020-21 season. LeMar was a two-time all-conference after spending her collegiate career at NCAA Division I North Dakota State University. She then went on to play professionally in several countries including Denmark, Germany, Australia and Sweden. LeMar worked as the Director of Player Development at the California Baptist University.

Wanink was a four-year all-conference performer at NCAA Division I Wofford University. She was a three-year captain at Wofford and led the Southern Conference in scoring her junior season averaging 21 points per game. She was named the 2019-20 SoCon Preseason Player of the Year and was named to the Nancy Lieberman Point Guard watchlist.

Returners
Notable returners to the Marauders include Macy Williams, Lexie Schneider and Megan Voit. Schneider led the NSIC in rebounding and was second on the team in scoring with 12.5 ppg.

Voit led the team in total three-pointers made with 22 while averaging 7.9 ppg.

Williams was first in the NSIC in assists with 75. Williams ranks 7th all-time for the University of Mary in assists.

Other returners include senior Carly Kottsick, juniors Reese Wishart and Mady Shafer, sophomores Zoe Velde, Lakyn Darras, Ella Grove, Cadee Ryckman and Hallie Schweitzer.

New Faces
The Marauders add the University of North Dakota transfer Megan Zander, who averaged 8.8 ppg and 5.9 rpg last season.

UMary brings in five freshmen, who will look to make an immediate impact for the Marauders. Those five include Addison Rozell, Julia Fitterer, Ryleigh Wacha, Moriku Hakim and Ellie Hasz.
