MANDAN, ND – Connor Hanson scored the lone goal of the game on a power play and Conan Hayton was a brick wall in net to lead the University of Mary to a 1-0 victory over the University of Jamestown's American Collegiate Hockey Association Men's Division I team. The victory extends the Marauders win streak to seven games.
 
This was the first time this season that the Marauders, the defending ACHA M2 national champion, had faced the Jimmies M1 team after skating past their M2 team twice already this season. This was also the first time the Marauders had defeated the Jimmies M1 team on UMary's home ice in a series that had favored the road team. In 13 games between the two programs this was just the second win by the home team in a series knotted at 6-6-1.
 
Making his first start of the season after playing a single period last weekend, Hayton matched Jimmies goalkeeper Tyson Brouwer save for save through the first two periods. Both teams fired eight shots on net in the first period while the Marauders held a slight 14-13 edge in shots in the second.
 
The Jimmies opened the door for the Marauders early in the decisive third period when Jamestown was whistled for a penalty 41 seconds into the stanza. With time running out on the man advantage, Hanson scored at 2:21 to break the scoreless deadlock. Johnny Witzke and Zach Garrett picked up the assists on the goal.
 
Hayton finished the night with 25 saves. Brouwer had 30 for the Jimmies.
 
The Marauders finished the game 1-for-3 on the power play while the Jimmies were held without a goal on their three power play attempts.
 
UMary, now 12-2 on the season, next hosts Dakota College on Wednesday, Nov. 10, on Military Appreciation Night. The puck drops at 7 pm. Marauders skaters will present 25 military veterans with a hockey jersey during the 1st intermission. The first 150 fans will receive a Military Appreciation Day-themed puck courtesy of gameday sponsor Kramer Subaru. Additionally veterans and active-duty service members plus a guest will be admitted free with a military ID.
