UMary swimming on the road to take on MSU Moorhead

MOORHEAD, MN – The University of Mary swimming and diving team (3-2) travels to Moorhead, MN, to compete against Minnesota State University Moorhead (1-0) on Saturday, November 6, at 1 pm.

Last Time Out
The Marauders were victorious in their first home meet of the season as they took down the University of Jamestown 153-121. The Marauders had three swimmers win two solo events.

Breena DeLegge earned NSIC Swimmer of the Week honors after winning the 100 fly (59.39) and the 100 free (53.71).

Rylie Webb won the 50-yard breaststroke (31.18) and the 100-yard breaststroke (1:08.36). Freshman Camille Merimee earned victories in the 50-yard backstroke (28.94) and the 50 free (26.05).

About The Opposition
MSU Moorhead is 1-0 on the season after defeating Northern State 128-77. Two freshmen shined for the Dragons as Danielle Heckaman took down the 500 and 1000 free, while Vaslina Shipilova won the 100 breaststroke and 200 IM. MSU Moorhead was projected to finish 6th in the NSIC according to the coaches' preseason poll.

Last Season
Last season the Marauders finished fourth in the Northern Sun after going 3-1 in the shortened regular season due to COVID-19. UMary had two swimmers earn NCAA All-American honors for the first time in Andrea Lee and Abbey Zajdzinski

Returners
Coming off an All-American season, UMary swimmer Andrea Lee was named the Marauders 2021-22 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Swimmer to Watch. Lee earned All-American Honors in the 1650 free at NCAA Championship after finishing 16th. Lee finished second in the 200 free, 500 free, 1000 free and the 1650 free at the NSIC Championships.

Victoria Murillo looks to continue her dominance at the NSIC Championships as she won the 200 and 500 free last season. The Cancun native qualified for the NCAA Championships in the 200 free, 500 free and 1000 free.

Breena DeLegge returns after winning the 100 free in the NSIC Championships. DeLegge qualified for the 2019 NCAA Championships in the 50 and 100 free.

Rylie Webb earned NSIC all-conference honors last season after finishing third in the 100 IM.

New Faces
The Marauders will welcome nine freshmen to the team. They are Ellie Wilson, Marina Conde Revuelto, Mariapocs Ruiz Martinez, Megan Miller, Camille Merimee, Breanna Lund, Rachel Bailey, Elle Holland and Emma Bradley.
