GREAT FALLS, MT – A second straight dominant effort by
Kyler Moore propelled the University of Mary to complete a weekend road sweep of the University of Providence. One night after posting one goal and four assists in a UMary victory, Moore added another goal and assist on day two to help the Marauders take down the Argos 3-0.
After a quiet first period, the Marauders struck twice in the second.
Taking a feed from
Seth Cushing and Andrew Heckeman, Moore found the net less than three minutes into the middle period. His eighth goal of the season also proved to be his third game-winner of the year.
Halfway through the period
Alex Flicek doubled the Marauders lead on his third goal of the weekend and 14
th overall.
Marshall Tschida provided the assist as UMary entered the second intermission with a 2-0 lead.
Jaren Hugelen sealed the Marauders sixth straight win on a goal just 1:22 into the third period with Moore delivering the lone helper. Of the Marauders ten goals on the weekend, Moore scored two and assisted on five.
Conan Hayton stopped all 23 shots he faced on the night to register his third shutout of the season.
The Marauders improve to 17-1-2-1 on the season. The Argos slip to 0-2.
After playing three road games this week, the Marauders return home to start a four-game home stand. In a scheduling change, UMary will host Dakota College on Thursday, Jan. 21, at 7 pm in Mandan, ND. The previously scheduled games against Utah State University on Jan. 21 and Jan. 23 are cancelled.
