GREAT FALLS, SD –
Kyler Moore keyed an explosive second period and accounted for five straight goals to lead visiting University of Mary past the University of Providence 7-4. Moore finished the game with one goal and four assists as the Marauders won their fifth straight game.
Trailing 1-0 after the first period, the Marauders dominated the second stanza. Fresh off a hat trick in the Marauders last game,
Alex Flicek knotted the game at 6:36 with Moore picking up the primary assist. Less than two minutes later, Moore pushed the Marauders into the lead on an unassisted power play goal.
UMary struck for two more goals in the final five minutes of the middle stanza on goals by
Jaren Hugelen and
Seth Cushing. Cushing finished the run when he found the net with only 49 seconds left on the clock. Both goals came off assists from Moore.
Hugelen's second goal of the game came at 8:22 of the third when he scored on the man advantage. Moore once again picked up an assist.
The homestanding Argos made a run at the Marauders late in the game, scoring three times in less than three minutes to close the gap to 5-4 with 3:24 remaining in the game. A pair of empty net goals interrupted the Providence run as Cushing and
Justin Ohnstad scored to secure the Marauders victory.
Cushing and Hugelen both finished with a pair of goals. Cushing also added an assist while Hugelen chipped in two. Ten Marauders posted at least one point in the game.
The Marauders (16-1-2-1) and the Argos (0-1) close out the weekend with a 7 pm start on Saturday, Jan. 16.
