PROVO, UT – The Mountain West Collegiate Hockey League is set to host the 2019-20 MWCHL League Championships Thursday, February 6 through Saturday, February 8. The University of Mary hockey team will be in attendance, earning the top seed in the tournament. With the top seed comes a first-round bye leading the Marauders to open tournament play on Friday, February 7 at 3:30 PM. UMary will take on the lowest seeded winning team in the matchup. A win in the first game would set the Marauders up to play in the Championship game on Saturday, February 8 at 3:30 PM.
The Marauders come into the week with a 35-7 record ranking #1 in the west and #1 in the nation. UMary is outscoring their opponents 219-65 this year. UMary's 219 goals is 41 more than any other team in ACHA Division II has scored this year. The Marauders 35 wins are 11 more than any other team at this point in the season.
Seven of the eight schools who compete in the MWCHL will be in attendance at the championships. Montana Tech is the lone team that will not be in attendance. The seeding for the tournament is:
- University of Mary (35-7)
- Providence (19-6)
- Montana State (18-8-2)
- Weber State (18-11-1)
- Utah State (15-12-2)
- Brigham Young (9-13-3)
- Utah Valley (4-17)
Brigham Young is the defending Champions with Utah State winning the four championships before that. Weber State clinched the first ever MWCHL Championship back in 2014. A first-year member of the MWCHL, the Marauders will look to claim their first championship.
