Marauders Hockey Hosts Final Home Game Of Season Against Jamestown

MANDAN, ND – The University of Mary hockey team will host their final regular season game of the year this weekend before advancing to the ACHA National Championships. UMary will take on The University of Jamestown Jimmies at 7 PM at the Schwan Cadillac Rink on Saturday, February 29. The last time the Marauders took on the Jimmies D2 team they dominated, claiming a 5-1 and 8-1 win.
 
With this being the Marauders final home game of the season, they will honor their five seniors. Their seniors are Lance Knudson, Jonathan Sundell, Matt Winkle, PJ Silveria, and Logan Kraft.

 
 


LAST TIME OUT
The last time the Marauders took the ice was for two hard fought games against the defending D1 national champions, Minot State. UMary fell by scores of 3-5 and 2-3 in overtime.
 
RECORDS
The Marauders boast a 38-9-0-2 record. UMary's 38 wins are the most in ACHA Division 2.
 
#1 IN THE NATION
For the first time in program history, the University of Mary hockey team received the nations #1 spot earlier this season. The Marauders held onto the spot for a few weeks and are currently sitting at #2 in the nation.

#1 IN THE REGION
The Marauders rank #1 in the West Region Poll this season. The Marauders have been #1 in the west since the first rankings came out last season.
 
 
SCORING MACHINES
The Marauders certainly know how to make the goal horn sound. UMary has recorded an impressive 246 goals on the season, averaging just over five goals per game. Seth Cushing leads the team in goals with 34, Alex Flicek is right behind him with 33. Flicek leads the team with 65 points with Zachery Garrett coming in second with 58. Cushing is 12th in the nation in goals scored and Flicek is 13th. Flicek is 19th in total points.
 
NOT IN OUR HOUSE
Lance Knudson picked up right where he left off by winning games. Knudson has started the season 20-5, recording 565 saves on the season. Kyle Hayden has a 17-4 record, recording 504 saves. Knudson's 20 wins are second in the nation and his 565 saves is seventh. His four shutouts are third in the nation.
 
TEAMWORK MAKES THE DREAM WORK
The Marauders sure know how to distribute the puck with 23 athletes recording assists on the season. Zach Garrett leads the team with 36 assists this season. Kyler Moore is second with 34. Garrett is 21st in the nation in assists.
 
BREAKING RECORDS
The Marauders only took two games to break a record from their first season. The Marauders recorded a program record of ten goals in their victory over NDSU in game number two.
Just a few weeks later they matched that record with a 10-0 win over Utah State. The 10-goal victory was the largest victory in program history.
 
Later in the season, UMary would go on and shatter that record, taking down Grand Canyon University 23-0. All 18 UMary skaters recorded points in the game with 12 players scoring goals. Cody ShepardPhillip SilveriaDalton Johnson, and Kyler Moore all posted hat tricks on the game.
 
TRIPLED UP
The Marauders have nearly tripled up their opponents in goals scored this season. UMary is outscoring their competition by a score of 246-89.
 
GOT FANS?
One thing that has not changed from last season is the tremendous amount of support the Marauders receive from the community. For the second year in a row, the Marauders won their first game of the season in front of a sold-out crowd!
