MANDAN, ND – One night after the University of Mary claimed victory in a close game at the University of Jamestown, the Marauders were unable to complete the weekend sweep. The Jimmies scored a trio of goals in the final period and defeated the Marauders 6-2.
The Marauders scored early on a
Zach Garrett power-play goal just 2:33 into the game. It was the only lead the Marauders owned all night.
The Jimmies tied the game on a short-handed goal by Allan Pruss at 13:25 of the first. Less than four minutes later, Jamestown took its first lead at 2-1. That bulge grew to 3-1 when the Jimmies scored the only goal of the second period.
Matt Winkle pulled the Marauders to within a goal at 1:55 of the third period. The Jimmies responded by scoring three times. Two of the goal were by Pruss – one on a power play – to give him the hat trick.
The Marauders held a 34-29 edge in shots but scored just one on eight power play opportunities. Jamestown scored once with a man advantage.
UMary next plays a home-and-home series with Minot State University on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 21-22, first playing in Minot before returning to Mandan.
