Marauders Travel To MSUM Before Hosting Minot State On Senior Day

BISMARCK, ND – The University of Mary wrestling team has two NSIC duals on the docket for this week. The Marauders open up wrestling on the road at Minnesota State University Moorhead. The Marauders and Dragons will square off at 7 PM in Moorhead, MN on Thursday, February 13. UMary will then return home for their final home dual of the season and senior night. The Marauders and Beavers will battle at 3 PM on Sunday, February 16 in the McDowell Activity Center. The Marauders will honor their lone senior Austin Eichmann prior to the dual.
 
The last time the Marauders took the mat was for a weekend split. UMary dropped the first match of the weekend against Augustana. #7 Phillip Springsteen had the highlight bout against Augie, picking up a 6-5 win over the #8 wrestler in the nation. UMary followed that up with a thrilling win over Southwest Minnesota State, 18-16. The Marauders trailed 9-0 before coming storming back. Springsteen sparked the Marauders with a big pin to give them a 15-9 lead and their first advantage of the dual. SMSU was able to retake a 16-15 lead heading into the heavyweight bout. Dom Tudor recorded a 6-0 win to give the Marauders the 18-16 victory.
 
MSU Moorhead comes into the dual with the Marauders with a 1-7 record, starting NSIC wrestling 0-6. The Dragons picked up their win against Concordia College by a score of 20-19.
 
Minot State comes into the dual ranking 23rd in the country. The Beavers are led by #6 Dean Arevalo (125) and #8 Jordan Will (285). MSU has earned a 6-7 record this season, going 2-5 in NSIC duals.
 
The 3-7 Marauders are led by two nationally ranked wrestlers. Braydon Huber (157) comes into the week ranked 12th in the nation. Phillip Springsteen (174) ranks seventh in the nation.
 
Braydon Huber will be looking to chase down Marauders history this weekend. UMary's redshirt freshman is just seven takedowns away from setting the single season takedown record.
 
Dominic Tudor and Phillip Springsteen have both climbed into the top 5 for UMary in All-Time wins. The duo is tied at fourth place with 52 career wins.
