BISMARCK, ND – Undefeated through 13 games after opening the 2020-21 schedule with 11 wins and a pair of ties, the University of Mary hockey team suffered their first loss of the season. Taking on the ACHA Division I University of Jamestown squad for the third time this season and second time in the last five days, the Marauders dropped a 7-2 decision to the Jimmies.
The string of visiting team success between the ACHA Division II Marauders and the ACHA Division I Jimmies continued. In 11 meetings between the two teams in a series tied at 5-5-1, the home team has yet to win a game. Previously this season the Marauders and Jimmies tied 4-4 in Mandan with UMary picking up a 4-1 win last Saturday in Jamestown.

A pair of first year players provided the Marauders a spark midway through the second period. Down a pair of goals after the first period and training 4-0 in the second,
Justin Ohnstad found the net at 10:57 off an assist from
Riley Scanlon. Just 31 seconds later,
Tanner Eskro scored to cut the Marauders deficit in half with
Zach Garrett and
Johnny Witzke picking up assists. It was the second goal of the season for Ohnstad and the third for Eskro.
The Jimmies soon regained their momentum, responding with two more goals before the end of the second period and one more in the third.
On a night filled with penalties, neither team found great success on the power play. The Marauders were scoreless in ten opportunities with a man advantage and the Jimmies were 1-for-7. Jamestown also scored a shorthanded goal.
The Marauders and the Jimmies face off once again on Sunday, Nov. 15, in Jamestown, the third meeting between the two programs in eight days.
