THIS WEEK
After playing six straight games on the road, the undefeated University of Mary hockey team returns to North Dakota to start a run of five straight home contests at the Starion Sports Complex Schwan Cadillac Rink in Mandan, ND. The Marauders first tangle with the Tetons of Williston State College in a midweek matchup on Wednesday, Oct. 28. The puck drops at 7 pm. UMary then hosts Iowa State University for a pair of games this weekend. On Friday, Oct. 30, the Marauders and Cyclones hit the ice at 7 pm. The two-game series wraps up on Saturday, Oct. 31, at 4 pm (note time change).

RECORDS
The Marauders are 7-0-0-2 after another unbeaten weekend… Williston State College is 2-4 on the season after splitting a pair of road games with North Dakota State University last weekend. Two of the Tetons losses came against ACHA Division I Minot State… Â

SCHEDULE CHANGES
The neutral site game between UMary and Williston State scheduled for November 4 in Dickinson, ND, is postponed… The Marauders have added a game to the schedule. UMary will play Brigham Young University on Nov. 20 in Williston, ND, at 3 pm… the March 12 Marauders home game against Minot State is rescheduled for Wednesday March 10.

MARAUDERS EXTINGUISH FLAMES IN MEETING OF NATIONAL POWERHOUSES
In the first meeting ever between two of the best programs in ACHA Division II, visiting UMary remained undefeated on the season after earning two wins and a tie on the road against Liberty University. The Marauders were ranked second in the final ACHA D2 poll of 2019-20, while the Flames were third…. UMary and Liberty opened the weekend with a 3-3 tie with the Marauders winning the shootout 2-1.
Seth Cushing posted a pair of goals and
Alex Flicek had a goal and an assist… The Marauders followed up with a 3-2 win in the second game a
Zach Garrett found the net twice for UMary… the weekend concluded with a 4-1 UMary win as
Kyler Moore posted a hat trick with goals in each period.

POWER OUTAGE
The Marauders penalty kill unit completely short-circuited the Flames power play last weekend, allowing Liberty to score just one goal in 15 opportunities with a man advantage. Over the last two games – both UMary wins – the Marauders skated off 11 straight Flames power plays without allowing a goal. Conversely, the Marauders were 3-for-7 with a man advantage in the last two games.  Â

FIRST
The Iowa State Cyclones travel to Mandan, ND, for the first time this weekend. The Marauders played the Cyclones for the first time in program history earlier this season when the two teams met in Ames, IA, for a two game set on Oct, 9-10. UMary won both games. In addition to the Cyclones, the Marauders are also facing several other programs for the first time this season: Waldorf College, Liberty University, the University of Cincinnati and the University of Minnesota Crookston, a first-year program.

RANKED
The University of Mary are scheduled to play 20 games against teams ranked nationally in the final ACHA D2 and D1 polls from last season. The Marauders were ranked second in the final 2019-20 poll and spent several weeks atop the ratings. UMary's ranked foes are: #3 Liberty (three games), #7 Florida Gulf Coast (two games), #13 Cincinnati (two games), #12 Providence (four games), and #17 Montana State (two games). The Marauders ranked ACHA Division I foes are #5 Minot State (four games) and #12 University of Jamestown (three games)… Florida Gulf Coast and Minot State are also the defending national champions of their respective divisions.

NORTH DAKOTA OR BUST
After playing their last six games out of state, the Marauders play five straight at home in the Starion Sports Complex Schwan Cadillac Rink. Additionally, the next 13 UMary games will all be played in North Dakota. The next time the Marauders leave the state is for a pair of games in Great Falls, MT, against the University of Providence.

ROLLING
The Marauders are undefeated through their first nine games of the season, winning seven and earning two ties. The hot start for UMary is not unusual. The Marauders opened their first season in 2018-19 with 15 straight wins. Last year they rolled off 14 consecutive wins to start the season.

SUCCESS
In just three short seasons as a program, Marauders head coach Dan Huntley has led the UMary to a record of 85-14-3-4 overall. The Marauders finished 39-5-1-2 in their inaugural season of 2018-19 and 39-9-2-0 in 2019-20. UMary is 7-0-0-2 in 2020-21.

HAT TRICK
Kyler Moore posted his third career hat trick at UMary in the Marauders 4-1 win at Liberty University. Moore previously had three-goal games against Montana State on 10/14/18 and Grand Canyon University on 1/17/20. Is was the Marauders first hat trick of the season… Moore is third on the Marauders in scoring this season with 13 points on five goals and seven assists. He leads the team in power play goals (3) and is tied for the team lead in game-winners (2). The native of Firestone, CO, is second in plus/minus rankings at +11.

FLICEK FLYING
All-American
Alex Flicek is off to an outstanding start. Through nine games he leads the team in points (17) and assists (9) and is second in goals (8). The Bismarck, ND, native earned 2019-20 ACHA D2 All-American honors after tallying 34 goals and posting 33 assists for a team-high 67 points. He scored nine game-winning goals, added two on power plays and one shorthanded. In 104 career games, Flicek has 78 goals,62 assists and 140 points with 18 game-winning goals.

GOAL SAVANT
In his second season with the Marauders,
Seth Cushing continues to pile up the goals. Through nine games he has a team-best nine goals. Cushing also has five assists, 14 points and five assists. Twice he has posted the game-winning goal. In 58 career games Cushing has lit the lamp 46 times and has delivered 25 assists.Â

RUSH TIME
Marshall Tschida is incredibly adept at both stopping the opponent's offensive rush and leading the Marauders charge towards the opposing goal. The defenseman owns eight assists this season – including four on power play goals – and two goals. For his career the third-year player has generated 103 points (28 goals and 75 assists) in 106 games. His play on both ends the rink has led UMary to outscore the opposition 494-186 in three seasons, including a 38-18 mark this year.

Team captain
Zach Garrett entered the 2020-21 season second all-time in points at UMary with 113. Able to both find the net and teammates, Garrett had 23 goals and 36 assists for 59 points last season after contributing 54 points (19 goals and 35 assists) in 2018-19. This year he owns three goals and four  assists after a big weekend at Liberty that featured a 2-goal game. Â

POWER PLAYER
Drew Lenertz directs a potent power play for the Marauders. The third-year defenseman has 67 career points in 106 games. Six of his goals have come on the power play, along with a program-record 28 assists. He has one goal (on a power play) and five assists (one on a power play) this season. Â
