THIS WEEK
The University of Mary hockey team opens the 2020-21 season with a trio of games against a pair of University Jamestown teams in the course of six days. The puck drops on the Marauders season on the road against the Jimmies ACHA Division II team on Friday, Oct. 2. UMary opens its home schedule the following night, hosting Jamestown on Saturday, Oct. 3, at 7 pm at the Starion Sports Complex's Schwan Cadillac Rink. The opening flurry of games wraps up with a visit from Jamestown's ACHA Division I squad on Wednesday, Oct. 7. Face off is 7 pm.

FULL BOAT
The Marauders are playing another ambitious schedule featuring 22 games against teams who qualified for the 2020 national championships and 20 games facing programs that finished the year in the national rankings… In addition to the 43 scheduled games, the Marauders compete in the Mountain West Conference championships on March 4-6. If UMary doesn't receive an automatic bid to the national championships as the program did in 2020, the Marauders may also play in the ACHA Dll regional tournament on March 25-27. The Marauders look to cap the 2020-21 season by once again qualifying for the ACHA Dll National Championships, set for April 16-20 in Malborough, MA… For the first time UMary will play Iowa State University (two home and two away), 3
rd ranked Liberty University (three road games), 13
th ranked University of Cincinnati Bearcats (twice at home), the University of Minnesota Crookston (two on road) and Waldorf (once on the road)… Opponents who were ranked in the final ACHA Dll national poll of last season include #3 Liberty, #7 Florida Gulf Coast, #12 Providence, #13 Cincinnati and #17 Montana State University… Ranked ACHA Division I foes include #5 and defending national champion Minot State University and #12 University of Jamestown.

HOME GAMES NOT OPEN TO PUBLIC
No tickets will be sold for UMary home hockey games at this time and games are not open to the public. Beginning with the Marauders home opener on Saturday, October 3, only 250 spectators are allowed entrance to the games and will be limited to a select number of University of Mary students, staff and faculty and Marauders hockey team family members. University of Mary students will be provided 70 tickets with faculty and staff receiving 30 tickets for each game. An online lottery prior to each contest will determine the ticket recipients. The remaining tickets will be distributed to family members of the Marauders hockey team. Spectators are asked to abide by the University of Mary campus social distancing rules, which can be found at www.umary.edu/COVID.

SUCCESS
In just two years as a program, Marauders head coach Dan Huntley has led the UMary to a record of 78-14-2-2 overall. The Marauders finished 39-5-2-1 in their inaugural season of 2018-19 and 39-9-0-2 in 2019-20.

ALL-AMERICAN
One of three All-Americans in program history,
Alex Flicek returns for his third season with the Marauders. The Bismarck, ND, native earned 2019-20 ACHA D2 All-American honors after tallying 34 goals and posting 33 assists for a team-high 67 points. He scored nine game-winning goals, added two on power plays and one shorthanded. In 96 career games, Flicek has 70 goals, 53 assists and 123 points with 17 game-winning goals.

GOAL!
Andy Huber is second all-time in goals at the University of Mary, potting 53 in two seasons. In 2019-20 the Bismarck, ND, native scored 24 goals after finding the net 29 times the previous year.

TOUCH
In his first season with the Marauders,
Seth Cushing beat the opponent's defense 37 times, a season record for the Marauders. Out of Red Wing, MN, Cushing also had 20 assists and 57 points.

Team captain
Zach Garrett is second all-time in points at UMary with 113. Able to both find the net and teammates, Garrett had 23 goals and 36 assists for 59 points after contributing 54 points (19 goals and 35 assists) in 2018-19.

Forward
Kyler Moore had a huge season last year, finishing third on the squad in points with 58 (22 goals and 36 assists).

RUSH TIME
Marshall Tschida is incredibly adept at both stopping the opponent's offensive rush and leading the Marauders charge towards the opposing goal. His play on both ends the rink has led UMary to outscore the opposition 456-168. In two season Tschida has totaled 93 points in 97 games (26 goals and 67 assists).

POWER PLAYER
Drew Lenertz directs a potent power play for the Marauders. Entering his third season, the defenseman has 61 career points in 97 games. Five of the goals have come on the power play, along with a program-record 27 assists.Â

CATCH HIM IF YOU CAN
One of the Marauders top skater,
Johnny Witzke made an immediate impact last season. Starting the season on the blue line before moving to forward, the Bismarck, ND, native scored 21 goals and added 29 helpers for 50 points.

SHOW STOPPER
Kyle Hayden joined All-American
Lance Knudson in giving the Marauders one of the nation's top goaltending duos. Hayden stopped 91.9% of the shots he faced for a 1.95 goals against average. He registered two shutouts and had a record of 18-4-0-2.

A busy first week continues when the Marauders take a trip to Ames, IA, for a pair of weekend matches against Iowa State University on Oct. 9-10 before visiting ACHA Division I Waldorf (IA) on Sunday, Oct. 11, in Albert Lea, MN.
