AMES, IA - A dominant opening two periods carried visiting University of Mary to a 4-1 victory and a weekend sweep of Iowa State University. The Marauders scored a pair of goals in each of the first two periods and Marshall Tschida had a hand in three out of the team's four goals. UMary remains undefeated through the first five games of the season.

An all-region defender, Tschida posted a goal and two assists in the game. The third-year player now has eight points - including two goals - in just five games this season. All-American Alex Flicek had the Marauders other multi-point game with a goal and an assist. 

UMary took advantage of an early penalty by Iowa State. With the Marauders on the power play, Flicek opened the scoring just 2:34 into the game with Kyler Moore and Seth Cushing earning assists. Cushing doubled the Marauders advantage less than seven minutes later off assists from Flicek and Tschida. With his sixth goal of the season, Cushing regained the Marauders team lead from Flicek. 

In the second period, the Marauders scored two more times as Tschida and Cody Shepard both lit the lamp. 

The Cyclones found the net for the first time all weekend with less than two minutes remaining in the game. Skating with a man advantage following UMary's third penalty of the game, Zach Perez closed out the scoring at 18:09. 

Conan Hayton picked up his second win of the season in net for the Marauders, stopping 31 of the 32 shots he faced. 

The Marauders improve to 4-0-0-1 on the season while the Cyclones slip to 0-2. 

UMary closes out the weekend with a game against ACHA DI Waldorf University on Sunday, Oct. 11, in Albert Lea, MN.
