Marauders Hockey Set To Host WSC Before Home and Home With Jamestown

BISMARCK, ND – The University of Mary men's hockey team will compete in a trio of games this week. The Marauders kick the week off with a matchup with Williston State College on Wednesday, January 29 at 7 PM in the Schwan Cadillac Rink in the Starion Sports Complex. After the completion of the rescheduled game with WSC, the Marauders will participate in a home and home with University of Jamestown's Division II team. UMary will first travel to Jamestown for a 7 PM game on Friday, January 31. The Marauders return home to host the Jimmies on Saturday, February 1 for a 7 PM puck drop.
 
LAST TIME OUT
The last time the Marauders took the ice they earned a weekend split with Dakota College at Bottineau. In the first game of the series, UMary dominated, winning 9-1 over the Lumberjacks at home. Alex Flicek and Seth Cushing led the way for the Marauders, each with a pair of first period goals. The Marauders were tripped up by the Lumberjacks in game two, falling by a score of 3-2 due to a late goal by DCB.  
 
RECORDS
The Marauders boast a 32-7 record. UMary's 32 wins are the most in ACHA Division 2.
 
#1 IN THE NATION
For the first time in program history, the University of Mary hockey team received the nations #1 spot earlier this season. The Marauders retook the top spot again and have maintained it during the last two polls.

#1 IN THE REGION
The Marauders rank #1 in the West Region Poll this season. The Marauders have been #1 in the west since the first rankings came out last season.
 
 
SCORING MACHINES
The Marauders certainly know how to make the goal horn sound. UMary has recorded an impressive 197 goals on the season, averaging just over five goals per game. Alex Flicek leads the team in goals (29) and points (55). Seth Cushing is second on the team in goals with 23 and Andy Huber is third with 22. Flicek is 11th in the country in goals scored and 14th in points.

NOT IN OUR HOUSE
Lance Knudson picked up right where he left off by winning games. Knudson has started the season 18-5, recording 539 saves on the season. Kyle Hayden has an 13-2 record, recording 304 saves. Knudson's 18 wins are second in the nation and his 539 saves is fourth. His four shutouts are second in the nation.
 
TEAMWORK MAKES THE DREAM WORK
The Marauders sure know how to distribute the puck with 23 athletes recording assists on the season. Matt Winkle and Kyler Moore are tied for the team lead with 27 assists. Flicek is right behind them with 26 of his own. Winkle and Moore are tied for 24th in the nation is assists.
 
BREAKING RECORDS
The Marauders only took two games to break a record from their first season. The Marauders recorded a program record of ten goals in their victory over NDSU in game number two.
Just a few weeks later they matched that record with a 10-0 win over Utah State. The 10-goal victory was the largest victory in program history.
 
Later in the season, UMary would go on and shatter that record, taking down Grand Canyon University 23-0. All 18 UMary skaters recorded points in the game with 12 players scoring goals. Cody ShepardPhillip SilveriaDalton Johnson, and Kyler Moore all posted hat tricks on the game.
 
TRIPLED UP
The Marauders have tripled up their opponents in goals scored this season. UMary is outscoring their competition by a score of 197-63.
 
GOT FANS?
One thing that has not changed from last season is the tremendous amount of support the Marauders receive from the community. For the second year in a row, the Marauders won their first game of the season in front of a sold-out crowd!
