BISMARCK, ND – The long-awaited return of the University of Mary swimming and diving team is finally here. After over a month away from competition, the Marauders are back in action at their home pool this weekend. The Marauders host Northern State on Friday, January 24 at 5 PM in the BSC Aquatic Center.

The format of the meet will be a pentathlon. This means that every swimmer will swim all five events and the individual with the fastest cumulative time will be crowned champion. The five events that will be raced are the 50 butterfly, 50 backstroke, 50 breaststroke, 50 freestyle, and 100 IM.

UMary will honor their first graduating class of seniors at the meet. The five individuals were part of the teams inaugural season four years ago and have competed with the team ever since. The seniors that will be honored are Melissa Andrews, Alyssa Boese, Kate Murphy, Erin Nestorick, and Rachel Riedel. Congratulations to these five seniors on all of their successes both in and out of the pool.

The Marauders come into their final home dual of the season with a 4-3 record. NSU has a 1-13 record. UMary has handed the Wolves two losses this season, the first coming at the season opening UMary quad dual and the other coming on the road against the Wolves.

On Saturday, January 25 the Marauders travel to West Fargo, ND to take on MSU Moorhead and Minnesota State in the final competition before the NSIC Championships February 12-15, hosted in Bismarck by UMary.
