HOUGHTON, MI – The season is finally here for the University of Mary volleyball team. The Marauders will get their season rolling at the Keweenaw Classic in Houghton, Michigan. The Classic will be hosted by Michigan Tech. During UMary's time in Houghton they will play four different schools over a three day period.

The Marauders open up the season on September 5 at 5 PM against Northern Michigan. They follow that up with a pair of games on September 6. UMary will battle UW Parkside at 9 AM followed by a match against the host school, Michigan Tech at 1 PM. The Marauders wrap up the Keweenaw Classic on September 7 with a match against Lake Superior State at 9 AM.

Plenty of experience is being brought to the table for the Marauders with every starter from the 2018 season returning for 2019. In total, 15 Marauders from the 2018 campaign will be back this year with the additions of two transfers and two incoming freshman. UMary returns team leaders in kills, assists, digs, and blocks.

"The team is looking extremely fired up this year," said junior setter Sydney Murphy.

Returning 15 players brings great team comradery which leads to a great deal of energy brought to every practice. The Marauders will look to carry this energy over to game day as they begin their season.

"Having that solid core back makes life a little easier especially this time of year in terms of expectations, knowing what we need to do, and taking the lead to go do it," stated head coach Korie Tetzlaff. "That's a huge piece for us that'll really help us down the road."

All four of the Marauders games at the Keweenaw Classic will have live stats. The Marauders game against Michigan Tech will have both live stats and a live stream. Coverage for all these matches can be found at goumary.com/coverage.
