BOISE, ID – Coming off a big win the night before over the tournament host, the University of Mary wrapped up a perfect appearance at the Bronco Showcase with a 4-0 win over Metro State University of Denver. Playing in the morning session, the Marauders specialty teams accounted for all four goals as Drew Lenertz scored twice on power plays while goaltender Kyle Hayden earned his first shutout and added a pair of assists.
 
The Marauders improve to 7-0 on the season after winning all four of their games at the Bronco Showcase. UMary also improves to 32-0-1 over the program's two seasons against ACHA Division II West Region rivals.
 
Seth Cushing opened the scoring with a short-handed goal at 9:36 of the first period, taking a feed Matt Winkle.
 
The Marauders doubled their lead late in the first period on a power play goal from Marshall Tschida with 1:23 left before intermission, taking advantage of assists from Johnny Witzke and Hayden.
 
Lenertz added power plays in each of the second and third periods. The defenseman scored off a feed from Hayden with 26 seconds left in the middle period. He wrapped up the scoring less than five minutes into the final period, finding the net on the man advantage with help from Tschida and Flicek.
 
In addition to his two assists, Hayden made 23 saves in the game.
 
Both teams committed 10 penalties in the contest. UMary took advantage to convert 3-of-7 power plays into goals.
 
The Marauders return home to host the Icebreaker Tournament. Starting Thursday, Oct. 3, against the University of Northern Colorado, UMary plays five games in five days.
