BOISE, ID – After a pair of close wins to open the Bronco Showcase, the University of Mary rolled past host Boise State University 5-1 to remain perfect on the season. Andy Huber scored a pair of goals and
Zach Garrett had a goal and an assist as the Marauders captured their sixth straight win.
Huber opened the scoring for the Marauders with 5:13 remaining in a close first period, with
Cyril Nagurski and Garrett picking up the assists.
An unassisted goal by Garrett doubled the Marauders advantage at 4:40 of the second period.
Josh Colleaux followed with UMary's second goal of the session at 15:43 off assists from
Seth Cushing and Matt Janke.
The Broncos broke into the scoring column on a power play less than five minutes into the third period for what proved to be their lone goal of the game.
Now leading 3-1, the Marauders rebuilt their advantage to three goals when Johnny WItzke found the net with Kyler More and
Paul Witzke, Johnny's younger brother, gaining assists. Huber sealed the win on a shorthanded goal with under four minutes left in the game with
Andrew Heckaman providing the helper.
Lance Knudson earned the win in net for the Marauders, stopping 18 of the 19 shots he faced in the game. Knudson now has 22 wins without a loss in his second season with UMary.
The Marauders held a 31-19 edge in shots taken.
UMary improves to 6-0 on the season and 31-0-1 over two seasons against ACHA Division II West region competition.
The Marauders close out their Broncos Showcase appearance against Metro State University of Denver on Sunday, Sept. 29.
