BISMARCK, ND – The University of Mary Volleyball Team has announced that
Aaron DeKalb will be the Marauders next assistant coach. DeKalb brings a plethora of both playing and coaching experience to the table for UMary.
The native of Placerville, California comes to UMary after spending three seasons as an assistant coach with Cornell University. DeKalb helped Cornell make great strides within the Ivy League, guiding their team to some of their best finishes in recent history. At Cornell, DeKalb handled a wide array of duties from managing team travel, to video editing, to game day operations and assisting with recruiting.
Prior to Cornell, DeKalb's coaching career began as a student coach at Grand View, where he was responsible for the development and training of junior varsity and varsity programs. He has also served as a coach for the Johnston Volleyball Club, Precision Volleyball Club, and Going Gold Volleyball Club. DeKalb also coached one season for the boys' varsity team at Folsom High School. Additionally, DeKalb also spent time at the University of North Carolina as a camp staff coach.
DeKalb began his playing career at Belmont Abbey College and as team captain in 2013 he ranked second overall in NCAA Division II for digs per set. He finished his playing career at Grand View University, winning a conference championship in 2014 and placing third at NAIA Nationals in 2014 and 2015. He then took his talents overseas to play for Bournemouth University and Wessex Volleyball Club in 2018-19.

DeKalb has a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sports Management from Grand View University and is pursuing his Masters of Science in Sports Management from Bournemouth University.
