BISMARCK, ND – The University of Mary hockey team competes in a home and home against the Lumberjacks of Dakota College at Bottineau. The Marauders will travel to DCB for the first matchup which will take place on Friday, November 8 at 7 PM in Bottineau, ND. UMary will then return home for Military Appreciation Night on Saturday, November 9 at 7 PM.
MILITARY APPRECIATION NIGHT
The University of Mary hockey team and Kupper Chevrolet are teaming together to honor the men and women who have served in the United States Armed Forces. Military veterans and current service members in the U.S. Armed Forces will be admitted free when the Marauders host Dakota College of Bottineau on Saturday, Nov. 9, for Military Appreciation Night. Face off is 7 pm at the Schwan Cadillac Rink at the Starion Sports Complex.
All United States military veterans and those currently serving in the U.S. Armed Forces plus one guest will be admitted free to the Marauders-Jacks game.
Additionally the Marauders and Kupper Chevrolet will individually honor 25 veterans at the game with a ceremony following the first period. UMary will wear a specially designed camouflage jersey during the first period. At the start of the first intermission, the honored veterans will be escorted onto the ice and will receive the Marauders hockey jersey from the player who wore the jersey in the opening period.
MILITARY APPRECIATION COMMEMORATIVE PUCK
The first 100 fans who purchase five chuck-a-pucks for a $5 donation for the second period fundraiser will receive a commemorative Military Appreciation Night puck sponsored by Kupper Chevrolet.
LAST TIME OUT
The last time the Marauders took the ice was for a matchup against DI foe, Jamestown. The Jimmies were able to best the Marauders by a score of 3-1.
Alex Flicek was the lone Marauder who was able to tally a goal on the night.
RECORD
The Marauders boast a 16-3 record. UMary's 16 wins are the most in ACHA Division 2.
SCORING MACHINES
The Marauders certainly know how to make the goal horn sound. UMary has recorded an impressive 89 goals on the season, averaging just under five goals per game.
Seth Cushing leads the team with eleven goals on the season. Right behind him is
Zach Garrett, Alex Flicek and Andy Huber, each with ten. A total of 17 different Marauders have found the back of the net this season. Cushing is 31
st in the nation in goals scored. Moore is 42
nd in ACHA in points with 22.
NOT IN OUR HOUSE
Lance Knudson picked up right where he left off by winning games. Knudson has started the season 10-3, recording 291 saves on the season.
Kyle Hayden has a 6-0 record, recording 110 saves. Knudson's ten wins leads the nation and his 291 saves are second in ACHA Division 2.
TEAMWORK MAKES THE DREAM WORK
The Marauders sure know how to distribute the puck with 22 athletes recording assists on the season.
Matt Winkle leads the team with 17 assists.
Kyler Moore is second on the team with 14.
BREAKING RECORDS
The Marauders only took two games to break a record from their first season. The Marauders recorded a program record of ten goals in their victory over NDSU in game number two.
Just a few weeks later they matched that record with a 10-0 win over Utah State. The 10-goal victory was the largest victory in program history.
TRIPLED UP
The Marauders have nearly tripled up their opponents in goals scored this season. UMary is outscoring their competition by a score of 89-30.
GOT FANS?
One thing that has not changed from last season is the tremendous amount of support the Marauders receive from the community. For the second year in a row, the Marauders won their first game of the season in front of a sold-out crowd!
