THIS WEEK
The University of Mary volleyball team hits the road for a pair of games in northern Minnesota. The Marauders will take on Minnesota Crookston on Friday, October 11 at 6 PM in Crookston, MN. They will follow that up with a match against Bemidji State on Saturday, October 12 at 1 PM in Bemidji, MN.

THE RECORD
The Marauders come into the weekend with a 1-14 record, going 0-6 in NSIC play.

LAST TIME OUT
The last time the Marauders took the court was for a pair of matches against some of the nations most elite teams. First the Marauders welcomed #3 Minnesota Duluth to town. Sydney Murphy reached her 1,000th career assist on the game but the Bulldogs were able to sweep the Marauders in three sets. #12 SCSU came to town next for a thrilling four set match. The Marauders were able to take a set from their nationally ranked foe but the Huskies put their foot on the gas, taking the match in four sets. Sydney Murphy posted a double-double with 25 assists and 11 digs. Morgan Schnabel just missed posting a double-double, recoding nine kills and 12 digs. UMary was a force at the net, recording 10 blocks on the game. Katja Berge led the way with five and Hannah Hanson had four.

OPPO RESEARCH – MINNESOTA CROOKSTON
The Golden Eagles come into the match against UMary with a 2-12 record, going 0-6 in NSIC play. UMC competed at the same tournament in Houghton, MI as the Marauders and had very similar results, winning one match while three of the four matches went to five sets. Minnesota Crookston is led by Porsha Porath who is averaging 3.25 kills per set, ranking her 10th in the NSIC. UMC ranks ninth in the NSIC in blocks, averaging 1.86 per set.

LAST MEETING
The last time the Marauders and Golden Eagles met was during the 2018 season when UMary took down UMC for their first conference win of the season. Katja Berge had a massive game with 18 kills. Morgan Schnabel recorded a double-double with 14 kills and 14 digs. Both Brittany Brusven and Sydney Murphy recorded over 20 assists as well. The Marauders recorded an impressive seven aces on the game.

OPPO RESEARCH – BEMIDJI STATE
Bemidji State comes into the weekend of the match against UMary with a 3-11 record and an 0-6 conference record. The Beavers got off to a hot start, beginning the season 3-1 but since then have dropped 10 straight. They have shown spurts of greatness, taking #7 Concordia St. Paul and #20 Wheeling to five sets. The Beavers setter Maddie Mackinac ranks fifth in the NSIC with 9.5 assists/set. Emma Hallmann ranks 10th in digs with 3.91 per set.

LAST MEETING
The last time the Beavers and Marauders met was for the last UMary home match of the season last year. BSU was able to take down the Marauders in four sets. Bailey Harms had a big game with 14 kills. Morgan Schnabel recorded her second straight double-double with 12 kills and 12 digs. Sydney Murphy led the way in assists (23) and Natalia Cruz in digs (16).

Three Marauders are nearing big time career milestone.
Morgan Schnabel has 478 career kills, just 22 away from 500.
Natalia Cruz has 613 career digs, surpassing the 600 digs mark and setting her sights on 1,000.
Katja Berge has 295 career kills, just 5 away from 300 with her sights set on 500.

DOUBLE-DOUBLE TROUBLE
Double-doubles have been the name of the game for the Marauders early on in the season. Setter Sydney Murphy has been a machine, recording eleven double-doubles in the first 15 matches of the season in assists and digs. Anna Nietfeld has four double-doubles on the season with digs and kills. Morgan Schnabel adds three double-doubles of her own with digs and kills.

Morgan Schnabel leads the Marauders in kills with a total of 162, averaging 3 kills per set. Schnabel ranks 20th in the NSIC in kills/set and 12th in total kills. Anna Nietfeld is right behind her averaging 2.23 kills/set, while recording a hitting percentage of .194, the highest on the team.

Sydney Murphy averages 7.93 assists per set, ranking her 11th in the NSIC in assists. She has 428 total assists which puts her at 11th in total assists in the NSIC.

Natalia Cruz leads the Marauders with 14 service aces on the season. Sydney Murphy is right behind her with 12. Morgan Schnabel is third on the team with 10.

Natalia Cruz leads the Marauders in digs with 194 on the season. Her 194 digs ranks her 12th in the NSIC and her 3.59 digs/set ranks 16th. Sydney Murphy (149) and Morgan Schnabel (118) rank second and third on the team in digs.

Hannah Hanson leads to Marauders in blocks with 26. Morgan Schnabel comes in with 19 and Julianna Hughes with 15. Ten different Marauders have recorded a block on the season.
