Marauders fall short against Jimmies

MANDAN, ND – The second go-round for the University of Mary against the University of Jamestown this season seemed to follow a similar script. Playing on the road in September, UMary twice fell behind by two goals and rallied for a win behind four straight goals. Tonight the Marauders again fell behind by two goals to the Jimmies but this time there would be no rally as UMary lost 3-1 to Jamestown.

The ACHA Division II Marauders (16-3 overall) all-time series record with the ACHA Division I Jimmies (5-3) is now even 3-3 with the visiting team winning each time.

The Jimmies scored the lone goal of the first period. When Jeremy McNeil found the net at the 14:59 mark. Jamestown doubled its lead just 69 seconds into the second period on an Aidan Potas goal.

Alex Flicek cut the Marauders deficit in half when he lit the lamp at 15:55 of the second. With the Marauders on the power play, Flicek found some space between the circles and fired a laser-like wrister past Jimmies goaltender David Anderson.

Momentum found its way back to the Jimmies in the final minute of the second period when Gage Thompson knocked home a redound off a Tyler Chavez-Leech shot with 56.5 seconds remaining before the second intermission.

Forced to kill off a 5-on-3 power play early in the third, the Marauders couldn't find the net to close the gap.

The Marauders held a slight 32-28 edge in shots. UMary was 1-for-2 on power play attempts while the Jimmies went 0-for-4.

The Marauders next host Dakota College – Bottineau on Saturday, Nov. 9.
