Marauders Hockey Hosts Jamestown For Midweek Matchup This Wednesday

BISMARCK, ND – The University of Mary hockey team will continue with their stretch of matchups against North Dakota based teams when they welcome the University of Jamestown to town for a midweek matchup. The Marauders and Jimmies will square off on Wednesday, October 30 at 7 PM at the Schwan Cadillac Rink at the Starion Sports Complex in Mandan. This will be the second matchup of these two squads this season, with UMary holding the advantage in the first, winning 5-3 thanks to a dominant late push.

 

LAST TIME OUT

The last time the Marauders took the ice was for a home and home series against Williston State College. UMary bested the Tetons in both matchups, taking the first 6-1 on their home ice followed by a 5-1 win on the road. Matt Winkle struck twice in the first matchup with Andy Huber accounting for two goals in the second.

  

RECORD

The Marauders boast a 16-2 record. UMary's 16 wins are the most in ACHA Division 2.

 

SCORING MACHINES

The Marauders certainly know how to make the goal horn sound. UMary has recorded an impressive 88 goals on the season, averaging just under five goals per game. Seth Cushing leads the team with eleven goals on the season. Right behind him is Zach Garrett and Andy Huber, each with ten. A total of 17 different Marauders have found the back of the net this season. Cushing is 15th in the nation in goals scored. Moore is 32nd in ACHA in points with 21.

 

NOT IN OUR HOUSE

Lance Knudson picked up right where he left off by winning games. Knudson has started the season 10-2, recording 266 saves on the season. Kyle Hayden has a 6-0 record, recording 110 saves. Knudson's ten wins and 266 saves both lead the nation.

 

TEAMWORK MAKES THE DREAM WORK

The Marauders sure know how to distribute the puck with 22 athletes recording assists on the season. Matt Winkle leads the team with 17 assists. Kyler Moore is second on the team with 13.

 

BREAKING RECORDS

The Marauders only took two games to break a record from their first season. The Marauders recorded a program record of ten goals in their victory over NDSU in game number two.

Just a few weeks later they matched that record with a 10-0 win over Utah State. The 10-goal victory was the largest victory in program history.

 

TRIPLED UP

The Marauders have tripled up their opponents in goals scored this season. UMary is outscoring their competition by a score of 88-27.

One thing that has not changed from last season is the tremendous amount of support the Marauders receive from the community. For the second year in a row, the Marauders won their first game of the season in front of a sold-out crowd!
