WINONA, MN – Averaging nearly five digs per set, the University of Mary volleyball team was led by the defensive efforts of Natalia Cruz. Her 14 digs were a team high, doubling up the next highest total on the team and falling just three shy of a game high. Despite the defensive presence of Cruz, Winona State was able to down the Marauders in three sets, hitting at a .326 clip on the game.
With the loss the Marauders fall to 1-20 on the season and 0-13 in NSIC play. #17 Winona State improves to 16-4 and 8-4 in the conference.
PIVOT POINT
The Marauders were able to keep things close against nationally ranked WSU early on in set one, only trailing 13-10. The Warriors then exploded for a 10-1 run to take a 23-11 lead and put the set out of reach for the Marauders. With momentum on their side, WSU was able to control the next two sets, earning 25-12 victories in both.

Natalia Cruz averaged 4.67 digs per set on the match, nearly a whole dig more per set than her season average, proving to be a difference making against the Warriors. A total of eight different Marauders recorded a dig during the match with Breanna Donarski recording the second most with seven.
