FORT MYERS, FL – The University of Mary hockey team heads to the sunshine state to take on two-time defending national champs Florida Gulf Coast. This will be a rematch from when the Marauders took down the Eagles 3-1 at the UMary Icebreaker earlier this season. UMary and FGCU will square off at 7:30 PM CST on Friday, October 18 in Fort Myers, FL. They will follow that up with another 7:30 PM CST game on Saturday, October 19.
LAST TIME OUT
The last time the Marauders took the ice was for two victories over Montana State. Lance Knudson earned a shutout with a 5-0 victory in the first game. Five different Marauders scored the five goals on the game. In game number two, Montana State forced overtime against the Marauders, but UMary did not falter as Marshall Tschida scored the game winner just 19 seconds into overtime.
RECORD
The Marauders boast a 14-0 record. UMary's 14 wins are the most in ACHA Division 2.
SCORING MACHINES
The Marauders certainly know how to make the goal horn sound. UMary has recorded an impressive 75 goals on the season, averaging just over five goals per game. Seth Cushing leads the team with ten goals on the season. Right behind him is Andrew Huber, Zach Garrett, Kyler Moore, and Johnny Witzke all with eight goals of their own. A total of 16 different Marauders have found the back of the net this season. Cushing is tied for fifth in the nation in goals scored. Moore is tied for sixth in ACHA in points with 20.
NOT IN OUR HOUSE
Lance Knudson picked up right where he left off by winning games. Knudson has started the season 9-0, recording 187 saves on the season. Kyle Hayden has a 5-0 record, recording 99 saves. Knudson's nine wins leads the nation and his 187 saves is second.
TEAMWORK MAKES THE DREAM WORK
UMary has recorded 118 assists on the season. Matt Winkle leads the team with 16 assists. 22 athletes have recorded an assist so far this season. Winkle is third in the nation in assists.
BREAKING RECORDS
The Marauders only took two games to break a record from their first season. The Marauders recorded a program record of ten goals in their victory over NDSU in game number two.
Just a few weeks later they matched that record with a 10-0 win over Utah State. The 10-goal victory was the largest victory in program history.

The Marauders have quadrupled up their opponents in goals scored this season. UMary is outscoring their competition by a score of 75-18.

One thing that has not changed from last season is the tremendous amount of support the Marauders receive from the community. For the second year in a row, the Marauders won their first game of the season in front of a sold-out crowd!
