MANDAN, ND – A pair of goals in both the second and third periods ensured the University of Mary hockey team a perfect ending to a perfect beginning. One day after routing the North Dakota State University Bison club hockey team 8-0 before an overflow and ebullient crowd in the school's first-ever hockey game, the Marauders completed the weekend sweep of the Bison 4-2.
The Marauders run of eight straight goals against the Bison was snapped late in the first period. NDSU opened the scoring with just 2:22 left in the opening stanza to claim a 1-0 lead.
UMary knotted the game on an unassisted goal by
Jakob Parisien at 10:54 of the second period, the first of three straight goals by the Marauders.
Scoring his second goal of the season,
Marshall Tschida found the net with 3:24 with assists from
Alex Flicek and
Kyler Moore to push UMary in front for good at 2-1.
Taking advantage of a Bison miscue, Moore doubled the Marauders lead with a power play goal at 16:46 of the third period, using a helped from
Zachery Garrett.
Drama entered the rink for the first time all weekend when NDSU closed within 3-2 with 8:07 left in the game.

Lance Knudson ensured the lead held in his first start of the season. An empty net goal with 23 seconds left by Zachary Garrett closed off any hope of rallying by the Bison.
Knudson finished with 28 saves in the game. Bison keeper Jordan Elliot posted 41 saves after making 45 the previous night.
The Marauders take their first road trip with a visit to the University of North Dakota club hockey team on Saturday, September 22 at 1:30 pm and Sunday, Sept. 23 at 9:30 am.
