Portland, OR – On opening night of the regular season in a game where goals were hard to find, the University of Mary men's soccer team was edged 2-0 in a tough battle against the homestanding Concordia University Cavaliers.
The Marauders struggled against the stout defense of the Cavaliers. UMary was only able to get off five shots on the night with only one being on goal while Concordia took 22 shots with five on goal.
Keaton Boehm was a force in the goal for the Marauders, setting the game-high for saves with three. Cavaliers keeper Grant Alcorn stopped the lone shot on goal he faced to record a clean sheet.
The Cavaliers scored single goals in each half, with both coming from within five yards of the net. Concordia posted a goal in the 36

Gabriel Carvalho was wide left in the 65

nd minute.
UMary will have a quick turnaround as they play their home opener on Sunday, September 2, at 1 pm on the UMary campus field against the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology.
