MINOT, ND – Big innings burst the University of Mary softball hopes as the University of Minnesota Duluth swept a Northern Sun doubleheader against the Marauders. In a pair pf games originally scheduled for play in Bismarck, ND, but moved to the Air-supported Dome in Minot, ND, the Bulldogs struck first in both games and defeated the Marauders 15-3 and 8-1.

The Bulldogs broke open a scoreless game with a pair of runs in the second before striking for 11 runs in the fourth inning, taking a 13-0 lead before the Marauders were able to get in the scoreboard.
PIVOT POINT
Leading 2-0 after scoring a pair of runs in the third inning, the Bulldogs sent 14 hitters to the plate in the fourth inning on the way to tallying 11 runs. UMD used just six hits in the inning as the UMary pitchers walked four batters and hit another. Sammi Sadler and Hannah Schmoll both scored twice in the inning and both drove in two runs, Sadler with a double while Schmoll had two RBI singles.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
A pair of Marauders had two hits each in the game.
Rebekkah Keller was 2-for-3 with an RBI.
Kasidy Chileen was 2-for-2 with an RBI and a run scored.
Hailee Jundt picked up her first collegiate hit in the fifth inning when she singled deep in the hole between first and second.
Keegan Wickman drove in her first run of the season with an epic at bat, fouling off several pitches before earning a bases-loaded walk in the Marauders 3-run fourth inning.
Sadler finished 3-for-4 with three runs scored and four RBIs for UMD hitting ninth. Leadoff hitter Schmoll was 4-for-4 with a triple, scored three times and drove home two.
Schmoll led off the game with a triple but was stranded at third as freshman
Sarah Thomson struck out the next hitter for the first out of the inning before getting the third and fourth hitters in the UMD lineup to pop out in foul territory.

UMD sent a combined 22 hitters to bat combined in the third (eight hitters) and fourth (14) innings.

Paige Matsuki collected a pair of hits and
Madison Jahner pitched a complete game but the Marauders were unable to overcome a 3-run first inning for the Bulldogs.
PIVOT POINT
Two walks, two hits, a steal, a wild pitch and a throwing error allowed the Bulldogs to cobble together three runs in the opening inning. The big blow was a 2-out 2-run single through the left side of the infield by Lauren Oberle.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
Paige Matsuki was 2-for-3 with an RBI.
Rachael Laetsch led off the third inning with a double and scored on a hit by Matsuki.
Keller had the Marauders other hit in the game and finished the doubleheader 3-for-6.
Natalie Wright led the UMD offense, finishing 2-for-4 with three runs scored and two RBIs.
Breanna Swint allowed four hits, one earned run and no walks to earn the win for UMD. In her seven-inning complete game she struck out six hitters.
STAT OF THE GAME
Jahner unofficially threw 142 pitches (75 strikes) in her seven-inning complete game. Swint threw 90 pitches (58 strikes) in seven innings.

The Marauders are scheduled to play at Bemidji State University on Tuesday, April 3. First pitch is set for noon.
