Second half slowdown dooms Marauders in NSIC tournament loss to USF

SIOUX FALLS, SD – On a night of two distinctly different halves, the University of Mary women's basketball claimed the first half but dropped off the pace in the second as the University of Sioux Falls rallied for a 60-50 home win in the opening round of the 2018 Northern Sun / Sanford Health women' s basketball tournament.

Behind another powerful performance by Gabbie Bohl, the Marauders outscored the Cougars 15-8 in the opening quarter after Jordyn Jossart and CassieNoen drained treys on UMary's final two possessions of the stanza.

Growing their advantage to as many as 11 points, the Marauders entered intermission leading 28-20 behind 12 first-half points from Bohl as USF shot just 21 percent over the first 20 minutes of the game.

The Cougars pounced on the Marauders in the third as Sioux Falls outscored UMary 16-10. Using a 19-1 run that started late in the third, the Cougars moved in front 49-39 and held the lead the remainder of the game.

UMary had one more run remaining, pulling within 55-50 in the final minute of play but the rally proved to be too late.
