BISMARCK, ND – The upset bid by the University of Mary women's soccer team dissolved in the final 12 minutes of play as 6^th ranked Bemidji State University rallied past the Marauders 3-1.
 
The Beavers came out flying but it was the Marauders who scored first. Bemidji State posted five shots and three corner kicks in the first 22 minutes to one shot for UMary.
 
After withstanding an early push by the Northern Sun-leading Beavers, the Marauders converted the first goal of the game in the 25^th minute. Camped inside the 6 yard box, Sidney Burrell knocked home her first career goal for UMary in the 25^th minute of play. Taking a pass from Caylin Cathey on the right side of the net, Megan Lowery centered the ball to Burrell for the goal.
 
The Marauders (3-6-2 overall / 2-5-2 NSIC) controlled the remainder of the opening half, limiting the Beavers (12-0 / 9-0) to one shot.
 
Bemidji State possessed most of the second half scoring chances but failed to find the net until Sarah Wendt tied the game in the 80^th minute when she converted a 1-on-1 opportunity. Less than four minutes later the Beavers scored the go-ahead goal off a set piece when Tia Neuharth headed home a free kick to give BSU a 2-1 lead.
 
Scrambling to tie the game with time running out, Kylee Welch's scoring attempt was turned away by Annan Fobbe in the 88^th minute. BSU tacked on a final goal with 36 seconds to seal the game.
 
BSU held edges of 14-5 in shots and 6-1 in corner kicks.
 
The Marauders return to the road with games at Southwest Minnesota State on Friday, Oct. 12 and Sioux Falls on Sunday, Oct. 14.
