SIOUX FALLS, SD – The University of Mary swimming and diving team finished off a strong opening weekend by breaking three more school records and splitting their triangular meet with Northern State University and host Augustana University. The Marauders claimed a 259-167 win over Northern State while Augie swam past UMary 246-180.
Fresh off posting two school records on the first day of the Augie Triangular, freshman
Victoria Murillo set her third school mark of the weekend with a winning time of 31.59 seconds in the 50 yard breaststroke.
Anna Jackson claimed another team mark in the 200 yard breaststroke, finishing in 2:30.15.
Additionally diver
Mariah Stewart bested her personal school record on the 3 meter board.
The Marauders opened the second day of the Augie Triangular by posting the day's top time in the 400 yard medley relay as
Alyssa Boese,
Abbey Zajdzinski,
Anna Jackson and
Victoria Murillo combined to post a time of 4:04.48.
Freshman
Andrea Lee topped the field in the 1000 yard freestyle with a mark of 10:58.06.
Boese bested the field in the 100 backstroke with her mark of 1:01.09.
The Marauders posted four of the top six times in the 200 yard backstroke with Boese in the second slot. Her time of 2:16.05 bested Northern State and was runner-up to Augie.
Zajdzinski claimed the top spot in the 50 yard fly with an impressive time of 26.93. She swam the 100 yard fly in only 58.70 seconds, trailing only Hannah Kastigar of the Wolves, the NSIC preseason swimmer of the year.
The 800 free relay team of
Kate Murphy, Murillo, Jackson and Boese claimed second to Augie, finishing in 8:06.83. Those four also posted a time of 1:42.0 in the 200 free to also place second.
The Marauders return home to host MSU Moorhead in a dual on Sunday, Oct. 14, at 1 pm in the BSC Aquatic and Fitness Center to cap UMary's 2018 Homecoming Week.
