BOISE, ID – A pair of power play goals by
Andrew Huber lifted the undefeated University of Mary hockey team to their 10
th straight win, a 2-0 road win over Boise State University on day two of the Bronco Invite.
Playing the host team in the last game of the day,
Aaron Nelson proved to be a brick wall in net for the Marauders, stopping all 22 shots he faced to post the shutout.
The win over the Broncos is the second for UMary over Boise State in the last week.
After a scoreless opening period, the Marauders took advantage of a pair of infractions by the Broncos in the second. Taking a feed from Benjamin Kottmeier and
Marshall Tschida, Huber tapped the puck home at 14:52 to give UMary a 1-0 lead. Less than three minutes later it was once again Huber that struck again, doubling the Marauders advantage off assists from Tschida and
Zachery Garrett.
The rest of the night belonged to Nelson and the defense. BSU turned up the pressure in the third period, taking ten shots in the final frame after challenging Nelson just six times in each of the first two periods.
Now 10-0 in their inaugural season, the Marauders next face Weber State on Saturday, Oct. 6, and Texas A&M on Oct. 7.
