Marauders swim and dive looks to take home second victory of the season against Northern State

THIS WEEKEND

The University of Mary swimming and diving will head to Aberdeen, SD this weekend to take on Northern State. The meet will take place on Friday, November 2 at 5:30 pm. 

THE RECORD

The Marauders come into this weekends meets with a 1-5 record.

LAST TIME OUT

The last time the Marauders took to the pool they participated in a hard fought battle against Augustana. The Marauders would fall 122-101 but they wouldn't go down without breaking some school records. Mariah Stewart would break her own records on both the one meter and three meter diving board. Anna Jackson would also break her own record in the 200 breaststroke.

OPPONENT RESEARCH: Northern State

Northern State comes into the meet against the Marauders with a 0-5 record. The Wolves competed against the Marauders in the season opener where the Marauders would take them down 259-167. The Wolves have arguably one of the best swimmers in the country on their team in Hannah Kastigar. The senior has won NSIC swimmer of the week three of the four times thus far this season.

RECORDS ON RECORDS

The Marauders have already broken eight records this season. Victoria Murillo owns three of those records. She has claimed school records in the 100 yard breaststroke (1:08.13), 200 yard freestyle (1:54.93), and 50 yard breaststroke (31.59). Anna Jackson owns three school records as well. She boasts records in the 200 yard backstroke (2:30.15), 1000 yard free (10:48.94), and the 200 yard breaststroke (2:28.96). The Marauders lone diver Mariah Stewart her own personal record off the one meter diving board (204.05) and the 3 meter diving board (202.4). The Marauders have not only broken school records but they have broken pool records as well. The team of Abbey Zajdzinski, Madalyn Scherwinski, Anna Jackson, and Victoria Murillo posted a time of 8:03.03 which was good enough to break a near ten year record in the South Dakota State University pool.

FRESHMAN PHENOMS

Victoria Murillo been nothing short of spectacular for the Marauders breaking three school records and posting times amongst the nations best. Not to be outdone, fellow Marauders freshman Anna Jackson owns three Marauders records herself.

SWEET SWEET VICTORY

Victoria Murillo, Alyssa Boese, Anna Jackson, Andrea Lee, Abbey Zajdzinski, Mariah Stewart and Rachel Riedel all have one thing in common, they all have taken home event wins this season. These seven Marauders have been nothing short of amazing leading the team in each and every meet.
