MANDAN, ND – Remaining perfect at home, the University of Mary hockey team routed the University of Colorado for the second straight night. Fresh off a 9-0 whitewash of the Buffaloes on Friday, the Marauders finished off the weekend sweep with a 7-0 victory on Saturday.
Andy Huber paced the Marauders with a pair of goals and an assist. The Bismarck, ND, native tallied the first two goals of the third period – the first shorthanded – to push the game out of reach at 5-0.
The Marauders tallied twice in the opening period.
Josh Colleaux posted the game-winning goal at 11:56 before
Ben Kottmeier doubled UMary's advantage on a power play goal 22 seconds before intermission.
After
Bryce Eckman scored the lone goal of the second period, Huber struck for his two goals in the first eight minutes of the third.
Andrew Heckaman and
Alex Flicek closed out the scoring.
Kottmeier and Colleaux each added an assist to their goals.
Marshall Tschida,
Jakob Parisien and
Zachery Garrett registered two assists each.
Aaron Nelson recorded his fourth shutout of the season, stopping all 19 shots he faced.
The Marauders outshot the Buffaloes 48-19. A penalty-filled contest, UMary was cited eight times for 16 minutes compared to six penalties for 12 minutes on CU.
UMary returns to action with an away-and-home weekend series with Dakota College of Bottineau on Friday and Saturday, November 2-3. The Marauders and Jacks play in Bottineau, ND, on Friday before concluding the two-game set at 7 pm on Saturday in Mandan, ND.
