Brookings SD – The University of Mary swimming and diving team opened swimming this weekend against South Dakota State University. The Marauders posted many impressive times and broke a pool record but were unable to take down the Jackrabbits falling by a score of 185-103.
The Marauders broke nearly a ten year pool record in the 800 freestyle relay. The team of
Abbey Zajdzinski, Mady Scherwinski,
Anna Jackson, and
Victoria Murillo posted a record breaking time of 8:03.03 to take home first in the meet.
Murillo had another great meet. She took home first place in the 200 yard free with a time of 1:55.90. She followed that up with a win in the 100 yard free with a time of 54.04 seconds. Murillo took home second in the 50 yard free with a time of 25.31 seconds.
Alyssa Boese took home an event win in the 200 yard backstroke with a time of 2:13.57.
Anna Jackson won the 200 yard breaststroke posting a time of 2:30.84.
The Marauders lone diver
Mariah Stewart took home second on both the one meter and three meter diving board.
The Marauders aren't done swimming for the weekend just yet. They will head to Sioux Falls, SD tomorrow to take on University of Sioux Falls at noon.
