Playing at home for the first time in the 2018 calendar year, the University of Mary women's basketball team hosts a pair of foes from the Northern Sun South division when the Concordia-St. Paul Golden Bears and Minnesota State University Mavericks pay a visit to the McDowell Activity Center. The weekend opens against the Golden Bears at 6 pm on Friday, Jan. 12. On Samaritan's Feet Night, the Marauders host the Mavericks at 4 pm on Saturday, Jan. 13.

LAST TIME OUT
Tangling with two of the top four Northern Sun teams on the road, the Marauders suffered a 67-49 loss at North Division-leading #19 Northern State University.
Lauren Rotunda paced UMary with 10 points and 10 rebounds against the Wolves, her fourth double double of the season. The weekend concluded with a 67-56 loss at MSU Moorhead, currently fourth overall in the conference and second in the North. Fr. G

SAMARITAN'S FEET BAREFOOT COACHING GAME
To raise awareness for those who may not have shoes, Marauders women's and men's head basketball coaches
Rick Neumann and
Joe Kittell will coach barefoot for Samaritan's Feet Night on Saturday, January 13, when Minnesota State University visits the McDowell Activity Center. This is the third straight year Neumann and Kittell have coached in their bare feet to help draw awareness for the need for shoes both here in the U.S. and around the world. For Kittell, the 2017 Samaritan's Feet Barefoot Coach of the Year, it is the fifth time in his career… Marauders men's assistant coaches

Jason Mattheis also plan to coach barefoot. Samaritan's Feet will conduct a shoe distribution in the Bismarck community later this spring. Marauders athletics have assisted with a pair of shoe distributions in the area over the past couple years, providing over 300 pairs of shoes to children at both events. Since 2013, over 4,000 children across North Dakota have been blessed with new shoes at over 17 separate events across the state.

Gabbie Bohl is a dominant force in the middle for the Marauders. The Minot, ND, native is third in the NSIC in scoring (17.1 points per game), 8th in field goal percentage (.508), 13th in rebounding (6.5 rpg) and 11
th in blocks (1.4/game)… She just missed her career scoring mark by a point when she posted 30 points at #23 Augustana, making 14-of-17 free throws in the game. Bohl had 21 points the day before at Wayne State… She has scored in double figures in 14 of the 15 games she has played this season… Bohl has two double doubles (24 and 13 vs. Dickinson State and 14 and 10 vs. Minnesota Duluth) and missed two others by a single rebound.

Dani Williams is the Marauders leading 3-point shooter. She is shooting 41.9 percent from behind the arc and has knocked down 31 treys this season. Williams is fifth in the NSIC in 3-pointers per game at 2.1 and is 3rd in 3-point field goal percentage among players with at least 40 attempts.

In her first season as a starter,
Cassie Askvig is off to a tremendous start. The sophomore forward leads the team in rebounds with 8.9/game (4
th in the NSIC) and blocks with 21 (10
th in the NSIC). She is second on the squad in scoring at 13.2 ppg (13
th in the NSIC), 3-pointers (22) and assists (2.7/game). She is shooting 43.1 percent from the floor and 34.9 percent behind the arc. Askvig scored a career-high 25 points against MSU Moorhead and Minnesota Duluth. She also had career-highs with 18 rebounds and five blocks against the Bulldogs. Askvig was named the NSIC Player of the Week January 2 after averaging 20.5 points, 15.0 rebounds, 4.0 blocks and 2.0 rebounds in a weekend split over Minnesota Duluth and St. Cloud State.

A member of the NSIC All-Freshman team last spring, sophomore
Lauren Rotunda has taken another step forward this season. The Fargo, ND, native averages 10.0 points, 7.3 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 1.8 steals while shooting .378 from the floor and .744 at the free throw line. Rotunda had her fourth double double this season at #19 Northern State with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
