Sarah Cook. "This puts us in an outstanding position for next weekend for senior recognition and parent/family weekend! We can't wait to be back home and play in front of our amazing fans.
"The weather was tough to play in today, but we preserved and came out very strong in the second half to put the game away. We were glad to see
Megan Lowery and
Caylin Cathey get on the score sheet again, as well as
Jade Smith for the first time this season. Plus
Taylor Pettigrew grabbing her first college goal capped a fun day."
Held scoreless their last three games, including an overtime loss Friday against Bemidji State, UMary jumped out to a quick 1-0 lead. A scant 2:37 into the contest Lowery scored her second goal of the season from 10 yards out.
Less than a dozen minutes later,
Caitlin Dooley played a ball from outside the box to
Caylin Cathey. The junior forward scorched UMC goalkeeper Olivia Puttin to the lower left side of the net to double the Marauders lead. It was Cathey's four goal of the season and her third game-winner.

The Marauders expended their lead with a pair of goals in the first 20 minutes of the second half. Lowery crossed a ball to
Taylor Pettigrew and the sophomore finished from 10 yards out for her first collegiate goal in the 51
st minute.
Jade Smith cemented the Marauders win off a scramble in front of the net in the 65

Cathey led UMary with five shots on frame. Smith had a team-high three shots on frame.
Puttin made nine saves for UMC.
Not counting neutral site wins, the victory was the Marauders first road win in nearly two years since defeating Southwest Minnesota State University on Sept. 27, 2015. After an 0-7-2 record in road games last year and a 1-8 mark two seasons ago, UMary is already 1-1-1 this season in away games. Additionally the Marauders have allowed just two total goals in the three road matches.
The Marauders next host Southwest Minnesota State University at 11 am on Saturday, Sept. 30, at MDU Resources Community Bowl.
