Cavaliers cruise past Marauders

AUBURNDALE – A slow start for the University of Mary baseball team doomed the Marauders in an 11-0 loss to Walsh University. The Cavaliers scored four times in the first and twice in the second and the Marauders couldn't catch up.

A game shortened due to the ten-run rule, half of Walsh's four runs in the first were unearned due to a Marauders miscue and four total for the game.

Mary posted four hits in the game, one each by Andrew Beyer, Chris Scott, Lane Huck and Darius Barlas.

Will Pettener pitched a scoreless inning for the Marauders.

Johnny Knight IV paced the Walsh offense, finishing 3-for-3 with a double and triple, driving in five runs and scoring once. Austin Szink scored three times and drove in once.

The Marauders (2-5) next face Ashland University on Monday, March 6, in Auburndale, FL.
