Marauder Women Back in Bismarck for Games Against Mavericks and Golden Bears

This Week: The University of Mary Women's Basketball team returns to Bismarck for the start of the final three weekends of regular season play.  U-Mary will host Minnesota State University on Friday, February 5, starting at 6:00 PM, before taking on Concordia University-St. Paul on Saturday, February 6, starting at 4:00 PM.

The Records: The Marauders dropped both contests last weekend with a 85-73 loss to Augustana University and a 70-54 loss to Wayne State College to move their record to 11-13, 5-11 NSIC. The Mavericks dropped both of their games as well to Northern State University and Minnesota State University Moorhead for a 6-14, 5-11 NSIC, with only one win in their last six games. Last Week: U-Mary held a 17-point lead against the Vikings early in the thrid quarter when the offense suddenly stagnated while Augie opened up a deluge of scoring, outpacing the Marauders 60-33 in the second half. U-Mary was within 10 of the lead midway through the final quarter, but couldn't find the offensive spark in the 85-73 loss. Dietz finished with 21 points in the loss while Dani Williams added 16 of her own and Hannah Larson notched 13. U-Mary took on Wayne State the following day and got off to a slow start as the Wildcats opened up the contest on a 12-3 run. The Marauders kept within striking distance at the end of the first but Wayne State fired off another 13-2 run at the start of the second and outlasted U-Mary's surge in the third en route to a 70-54 final score. Larson became the Marauders' NCAA era block leader as she finished with four swatted shots in the game to put her career total at 155 and finished with her eighth double-double of the season with 11 points and 13 rebounds. Meanwhile Dietz surpassed Lisa Maus on the all-time scoring list with 25 points, putting her career total at 1,683.

Magic Number: At her torrid pace of scoring, Dietz sits merely 141 points away from the top spot on U-Mary's all-time scoring list with six games to play in the regular season. She needs to average 23.5 points per game in the final stretch to become the Marauder's all-time leading scorer by the final home game on February 20 against St. Cloud State University.

Next Week: U-Mary will make their final road trip of the regular season as they head east for rematches against Bemidji State University starting at Friday, February 12, starting at 6:00 PM, followed by a visit to the University of Minnesota Crookston on Saturday, February 13, starting at 4:00 PM.

History: The Marauders improved their all-time record to 15-3 against the Beavers with win back on January 3 in Bismarck, and are on a three-game skid against the Golden Eagles with a loss back on January 2 though U-Mary still holds a 15-4 edge in the all-time series.
