MANKATO, Minn. –
Nathan Inkman headlined a surging University of Mary squad at the 2016 Northern Sun men's indoor track & field championships. The Marauders finished seventh overall, a jump of four slots from last year.
The Marauders claimed 44.2 points to finish seventh. Last year U-Mary placed 11th. Minnesota State University claimed the 2016 NSIC men's title.
In his final indoor championship,
Nathan Inkman ran his best race. The senior from Oroville, California, took second in the 800 meter run with a clocking of 1:56.16 to earn all-NSIC honors.
One day after placing third in the 3,000 meter run while setting a school record, senior
Chris Jessop posted his second all-conference performance in the 5,000 meter run. The Corvallis, Montana, native was clocked crossing the line in 14:57.50.
Two Marauders placed in the triple jump. Senior
William Kaigler (Tracy, California) claimed fifth with an NCAA provisional qualifying mark of 14.40 meters. Sophomore
Beau Nutting (Gillette, Wyoming) finished eighth with an effort of 13.95 meters.
Sophomore Cory Berner (Las Vegas, Nevada) placed sixth in the 200 meter dash, clocking a time of 22.56 seconds.
Competing in his first conference championship, freshman Gabriel Wyllie (Bend, Ore.) claimed sixth in the 600 meter run in a time of 1:25.06.

Derek Myers (Gillette, Wyoming) posted a time of 2:38.56 to finish eighth in the 1,000 meter run.
