MOORHEAD, MN – Looking to repeat last year's road upset of then 4
th ranked MSU Moorhead, the University of Mary couldn't keep pace offensively with the high-scoring Dragons offense in an 82-66 Northern Sun loss to the NSIC North Division favorite.

Bryan Jefferson posted his first double double of the season, one of three Marauders to reach double figures in points, but it wasn't enough. Mary shot just 38.6 percent from the floor to 54.8 percent for MSU Moorhead. Additionally the Marauders hit just 5-of-20 three-pointers while the Dragons, who are receiving votes in the ABCA national top 25 poll, sank 8-of-19 behind the arc.
Pat Thomas scored the opening basket of the game for the only lead of the night for the Marauders (2-5 overall, 1-1 NSIC). The Dragons (6-1, 2-0) scored the next five points and quickly jumped out to a 16-4 lead. A dunk by Jefferson started an 8-0 Marauders run to bring Mary within four points but eventually MSU Moorhead built a double digit lead with over three minutes remaining before intermission.
Trevor Zacher nailed a three-pointer to open the second half and reduced the Marauders deficit to nine points. Aaron Lien responded with a trey of his own on the Dragons next possession and MSUM maintained a double-digit lead the rest of the game.
Jefferson finished with 16 points and a career-best and game-high 14 rebounds. Just 7-of-16 from the floor, the senior hit both his free throws.
Zacher scored a career-high 17 points to lead the Marauders in points. The junior forward was 4-of-8 behind the arc. The rest of the team combined to make 1-of-12 3-point attempts.
Rickey Suggs came off the bench to score 11 points on 5-of-8 shooting. He also pulled down five rebounds.
Lein led the Dragons with 18 points. He hit 7-of-10 shots and all three free throws while grabbing six rebounds. Matt Anderson had 17 points and eight rebounds off the bench. Tanner Kretchman shipped in 12 points and distributed ten assists.
The Marauders conclude their first NSIC weekend doubleheader at Northern State University on Saturday, Dec. 3. Tip off is set for 6 pm.
