This Week: The University of Mary and Minot State meet up Friday, Dec. 16 in Bismarck, N.D. inside the McDowell Activity Center as the Marauders host the Santa Claus Dual at 7 p.m.
About the Beavers: Lead by second year head coach Evan Forde, Minot State is 2-4 this season with an 0-2 record in the Northern Sun. The Beavers are coming off a 36-6 loss to No. 19 Minnesota State University - Mankato. Jered Sublet (141) leads the Beavers with 11 wins this season but Parker Osterman (165) leads the team in total points with 18. Three MSU student-athletes have double-digit wins on the year.
Early On: The University of Mary has had a rough start to its 2016-17 season. A handful of wrestlers have performed well at tournaments but the Marauders have lost its first two duals of the season. The Marauders lost 26-9 to Concordia College (Minn.) and three days later lost its first Northern Sun match of the season to Upper Iowa, 36-9. However, three Marauders have recorded at least eight wins or more this season.
Eight Wins: Redshirt sophomore
Nate Humann is 8-8 this season and 3-2 in Division II matches. Humann took sixth place at the Yellowjacket Open after winning his final three matches before losing by decision in the consolation semifinals. Humann also beat Minot State's Michael Rangel in the fifth place match at the Bison Open.
Eleven Wins: Sophomore
Tate Barnhardt sits at 11-6 for the season and has a stellar 6-2 record in Division II matches. Barnhardt has 19 takedowns, 17 escapes and five reversals this season. Barnhardt took third place at the Bison Open earlier this season after defeating Albert Landeros (11-1 major decision) in the match. Barnhardt also helped Mary take an early 6-4 lead on Concordia College (Minn.) after winning his match by a decision, however, the Marauders lost the dual. He also helped Mary score nine points against Upper Iowa after beating Chase Seaney by fall in the second match of the dual.
Eight Wins: Austin Eichmann is the final Marauder that has at least eight wins this season as he is 8-3 overall and 2-2 in Division II matches with a 1-1 record in duals. The freshman started the season off on the right foot and took first place at the Yellowjacket Open after defeating Harper CC's Jimmy Knapp by fall. And then turned around and won his first dual match of the season after taking down the Cobbers Parker Jackson by a 7-3 decision. This season Eichmann has 22 takedowns, 14 escapes and two reversals.
